The softball team poses with thier runner-up trophy after the tournament.

The softball team travelled to Montgomery Tuesday, May 12 to compete in the state tournament.

The bracket pitted them against Theodore High School, giving the team a typical Sparkman win with a score 13-3. The Senators continued into the winner’s bracket. They faced Enterprise High School in their next game. Freshman Amanda Shikoh added two homeruns to her total, ending the game with 7 RBIs. The team won 9-2.

The winner’s bracket final round pitted the defending champions against Baker High School. The first game resulted in a 1-0 loss which placed the team in the loser’s bracket where they faced and defeated Thompson again.

The final game was postponed due to thunderstorms in the Montgomery area, causing the team to play at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15. The repeating champions were not able to beat a tough Baker team to claim the fourth consecutive championship. A 12-1 loss made the Senators a runner-up.
