It Was Always Like This, Right?

The Mandela Effect

The Mandela Effect has affected many people. This phenomenon is experienced when a large number of people recall the same details about something that was never truly there. Usually occurring with brand logos, this effect has been caused by Pringles, the Monopoly Man and many more.

While some people believe that these companies decided to change their logos in secret, others think that they were originally designed the way they are now. More examples of suspected logo changes come from sources like the Fruit of the Loom logo, iPhone emojis, and even the Cheez-It brand.

One of the most well known Mandela Effects involves the Fruit of the Loom logo. Thousands of social media users claim to remember that it used to have a cornucopia. They believed that the cornucopia was holding the iconic bundle of fruit inside. Many people debate whether this is true or false. Some say they remember it vividly, while others say that it’s false. The company itself published a social media post stating that their logo has never had the cornucopia, but the internet remains unconvinced.

Another example of the Mandela Effect is the Cheez-It name. Many people swear that it has always had a “z”, but a group of fans claim it had an “s” after the “It”, which would have made it “Cheez-itz” or “Cheez-its”. According to Cheez-It themselves, there was never a time where they had changed the brand with the letters “s” or “z”. They have always been known as Cheez-It.

Most teenagers have phones, specifically iPhones, and some have said to remember that there was an emoji of a criminal on their phones. There have also been memories reported about other emojis, like a cat with the star eyes or the family emoji. In general, many of the emojis Apple used to support are gone, but is this true? The star-eyed cat and criminal are said to have never existed in emojis, according to what Apple has posted on their socials. On the other hand, what they have said about the family emoji is that they changed it with an update in order to avoid the impossible task of showing all skin tone and gender combinations.

There are still lots of more things that people forget about. When they have a sudden desire to look for it, it may seem as though it never existed. In most cases, the faint memory that people have has sometimes made people wonder if these things were real. Maybe a company just decided to rebrand, or what if they put it out there as a market test and now want to walk it back? Nobody will really ever know how much things have changed and why, but there will always be doubt in people’s minds.
