The sophomore class gathers on the north side of the gym to get information on class rings and dress code.

Entering the school year with new goals at hand, even the most basic rules are to be enforced.
Throughout the week each grade has met in the gymnasium for a schedule of how the year is planned to go.
Starting with a reinforcement of dress code, assistant principal Maurice Jones gave all students a reminder of what is not appropriate to wear while in school. Jones also gave a refresher of cell and headphone policies in the halls and in class, as well as tardies and Student ID’s.

Junior class president Camryn Shields has also reminded students of upcoming events. The rules that come with pep rallies and certain unfinalized dates for homecoming week.

“This year SGA will be hosting three main events in addition to the homecoming days and pep rallies,” Shields said. “We will be having a Movie Night in October, Dodgeball Tournament in May and Color Run in April.”

An employee of the Achievement Brand company Herff Jones also met with each class to discuss class rings. Rings that are now made with the school’s very own logo. All ring prices start from as low as $109.85 and are scheduled to deliver before Christmas.

Another discussion of class meetings was prom. Coming along with prom is also a fundraiser. The magazine sale is a fundraiser to help students pay their way to prom. If a student sells ten magazines they will receive a free prom ticket.

“The more tickets that we sell, the more money we will have and the more money we have, the better prom will be,” english teacher Amber Staggs said.

Prom will also be held at the Davidson Center this year. Juniors can now sign up for Prom Committee. Applications can be found outside of Staggs’ classroom. The due date of applications has yet to be finalized.

“School is not necessarily the most “fun” place to be,” Shields said. “But these four years are only going to be as fun as YOU make it.”
