Music today represents a lot of cultures. These songs talk about the experiences people have been going through and allow Hispanics to connect with them. The Hispanic Senators were interviewed to talk about their favorite Hispanic songs.

“My favorite Hispanic song would be ‘Si No Le Contesto’ by Plan B,” Senior Luz Corzo-Aburto said.

“It doesn’t have a specific meaning from my point of view, but I enjoy dancing and vibing to this song, and sometimes I find myself repeating this song a lot. My favorite music genre is Latin Pop. I basically grew up listening to these songs, and most of them are bangers.”

Plan B was a reggaeton duo of two Puerto Rican cousins, Chencho Corleone and Maldy.  ‘Si No Le Contesto’ is an old song that used to be popular in the early 2010s. Reggaeton was really popular among teenagers in the early 2000s, and these days, reggaeton is still something that teens listen to.

Even though songs might not have a significant meaning for some people, for others, they do.

“I like the song “Ocean” by Karol G. I feel like this song has a very beautiful meaning, like in the way she talks about the love she has for her partner and how she’s very happy for the love they have for each other, “My favorite music genre is pop music, because it’s very upbeat and I feel like it puts you in a good mood, and I like how she uses her voice in a way to express her feelings and she sings very well,” Junior Danna Espinoza Martinez said.

This is a really emotional song that was written by Karol G, a Colombian artist. The song was based on her personal life and the deep love she had for her former boyfriend, Anuel AA. This song is from the pop genre and was released in 2019.

Hispanic music continues to have an emotional impact on people’s lives, and the rhythm and emotion of these songs can connect them to share their culture. Even though some of these songs might be getting older, they continue to inspire new generations to dance, express themselves, and show off their cultures. Hispanic music is important to students growing up because it brings them joy and comfort.
