October is here, and with it, Spooky Season! On the 31st, people prepared to have a spooky, cool Halloween night and sleep throughout the weekend. People have the costumes, decorations, themed snacks, and, most importantly, the candy ready. But with all this, where do you go? Here are the top 5 places you can go with friends or family on Halloween night.
- Neighborhoods
The classic and traditional way to spend a Halloween night is to trick-or-treat in neighborhoods. People can Trick-or-Treat in their local neighborhoods or travel to others. Some Sparkman students go to KellySprings or Harvest Road, while others go to the “rich neighborhoods”, where they can get the best candy. According to Hville Blast.com, people requested their go-to neighborhoods, such as Old Town and Lily Flagg (more in the link). Just make sure you don’t go to Elm Street.
- Churches
It’s funny how the “unholiest day of the year” began at the holiest of places. Churches often celebrate the non-horror factor of Halloween, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have fun. Some churches participate in trunk-or-treat for the kids, allowing them to dress up and get candy from church members’ cars with decorated and fun themes. Others might celebrate by putting on a Harvest Festival where kids can dress up, play games, get candy, and more. Depending on the church, these events aren’t exactly on Halloween. There could be other ways for a church to celebrate, but it’s nice that even though they have their own way of celebrating, they can still make it fun.
- Haunted Places
Another traditional way to spend Halloween is by going to a Haunted House. It’s fun to make friends or families test their fight, flight, or freeze response. Not a fan of haunted houses, no problem, there are other areas such as a haunted maze, a corn maze, an escape room, etc. You can find more on Huntsville’s haunted houses by visiting this link here.
- Sleepovers
Let’s be clear: spending Halloween night with friends screams fun. All together watching movies, pranking each other, having a party, dressing up, and more! Sleepovers during Halloween with friends make it more entertaining staying in and if you get scared, at least you’re not getting scared alone.
- Home
If you don’t want to do any of those things, there’s nothing wrong with staying home. Home is where the heart is, so you can control how your night goes. Eating Halloween candy, dressing up in your costume or pajamas while watching a horror movie, or playing a horror game is a fun and relaxing way to spend Halloween.
There can be many ways to spend your Halloween, as long as it feels comfortable to you. Some people enjoy the scares, while others enjoy the candy. There’s no specific way to celebrate Halloween. Regardless of what you or others do, make sure you’re having fun and staying safe.
