The new book series adaptation of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has been a hit as millions across the nation watch their favorite book come to life.

The series follows the books and so it is extremely well written and acted out. Each season will be one book in the Percy Jackson series. So, the first season is the first book.

The first episode was amazing as it felt like my imagination came to life in the film. Reading the first book again and watching this show after has been surreal. The second episode showed the fabled Camp Half-Blood that is talked about throughout the book series and it is a major place in the series. It showed the amazing cabins of demigods and showed how each cabin represented their god or goddess respectively. The start of the journey for the three heroes, a big part of the book series, begins at the end of the second episode. In the third episode, the heroes start their journey and it is a seemingly easy one at first. But where demigods go monsters follow. So, throughout the episode, monsters are seen and they attack. Though the demigods are in danger, they fight back and see the monsters to their end. The fourth and latest episode saw the demigods recovering from the last episode until their latest foe appeared and tried to feed them to her child. The episode ends with Percy in the water and on a cliffhanger.

Although the series is getting good reviews, there is one issue fans are upset about–the casting of Percy, Annabeth and Grover. In the books, Annabeth is white with blonde hair and stormy gray eyes but people have been mad about the actress picked as she is African-American. The author himself defended the choice saying that he picked the actors himself and that the actors may not look like the characters but their personality is perfect for the characters. I, however, like the casting choices.

I think what I have enjoyed most this far in the series are the main characters and the way the actors so perfectly portray their characters and how they interact with each other.

The three main characters are Percy, Annabeth and Grover. Percy is a demigod son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. Annabeth is the daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. Grover is a satyr, a magical creature that is born of a nymph and a satyr.

The episodes are released every Tuesday at 6 p.m. PST  and 9 p.m. EST. They can be watched only on Disney+
