Bird’s the word

Just last week I downloaded the game on my iPod and I have been hooked ever since. The background is a knock-off from Mario Brothers and the bird does not even look like a bird, but more so like a fish.

The goal is simple, though; position the bird in between two vertical pipes without hitting either one. It may not be easy at first, but eventually you get the hang of it. Some people have had this game for weeks now have barely even passed five, and then there are those that have only had it for a week and have made it over 20. Either way, both are real accomplishments.

Like with all good things, there are people who take it too far. That is what happened when a teenager from Chicago killed his older brother because he got a higher score. You can say he was a little jealous, but no game on Earth should ever be taken that seriously.

The game may be fun at first, but after a while the rhythm of the tapping on the screen gets boring and getting the bird in between the pipes becomes a mundane task. It is no longer a challenge, but another game in your device that you have mastered.

For now, Flappy Bird is the hottest app out there, but it will eventually die down, just like Temple Run and Candy Crush.
