For the past few months, the volleyball team has been in need of a new coach.  Despite not having a coach in place, evaluations for next year’s team were held the last month of April.

“We are looking for someone with the experience, who has coached in 6A and 7A volleyball. Someone who has passion and competitiveness to our team and we’re also looking for someone for the best possible teacher candidate. It’s not only a coach, but a teacher as well,” athletic director Jason Watts said.

The girls from the volleyball team took it hard at first. For most of the girls the coach impacted their lives a lot and they really learned a lot from their former coach.

Junior varsity coach Amber Staggs, and Watts ran the evaluations last month, which were filmed for viewership for the future coach. Forty-five girls participated in the evaluations.

“We will really miss Coach Elder. She taught us a lot of great things and we’re all thankful to have known her,” junior Ashlee Walker said. “We’re so excited, though, to have a new volleyball coach because our program needs a new, positive beginning.”

Looking for a new coach has not been easy. According to Watts, it is time consuming, especially for a 7A school. Watts wants the future team to know he is hard at work to get a coach before school begins in August.

“I know we will find a new volleyball coach for the volleyball program and I have faith that it will be someone who will make our volleyball team better,” Watts said.
