S.E.E program cracks down on rising seniors

March 3, 2016

Almost a week prior to the beginning of registration for next year’s schedules, it was announced that a few adjustments have been made to the Senior Exploratory Enrichment Program for this coming school year.

At the start of the 2016-2017 school year seniors who applied for S.E.E. program during registration have to be age 17 and be able to bring to Co-Op teacher Bev Massa either a pay stub showing proof that they have a job, or proof of enrollment in a college course for dual credit. Massa will check in with seniors in S.E.E. program periodically throughout the semester or year that they are taking S.E.E. program. She will be available to help any working seniors learn how to print out a pay stub if they receive their paycheck through electronic deposits by their employer.

“We are doing this to ensure that we are holding our students more accountable for the half day they are missing when they sign up for S.E.E.,” curriculum principal Jonathan Barron said.

Seniors cannot sign up for S.E.E. if they do not have a paying job or enrolled in college which will be new to most seniors looking forward to more free time.

“I’m glad the school is finally holding students accountable. So many just go home and there are so many great things students can be involved in at SHS that is more beneficial than just going home or lounging around with extra free time,” teacher Erin Coggins said.
