Clubs take to the skies

Clubs are packing their bags and getting ready to travel and some are headed all over the world.
Field trips have always been exciting as a kid. Getting out of class, out of school has always been an adventure. This has not changed much; we are just venturing further. While these trips are an extraordinary experience, the further you go the more you pay.
Clubs such as chemistry, Spanish and photography are taking trips to various destinations.
Teresa Hodge, head of the chemistry club, is taking her members to numerous places: Dauphin Island and two separate canoeing trips. Dauphin Island is located in Mobile County at the Gulf of Mexico. During the four day trip, students will conduct research on a boat and participate in a water purification lab. Her canoeing trips will take place on Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 .They will have a full day of canoeing while simultaneously learning about water purification.
The Spanish field trip is a bit different. The trip is not only open to Spanish club students; it is open to any student wanting to go. They will take it another step further, braving an 11 hour flight to Spain. Staying for nine days, they will take a walking tour of Madrid to see Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de Oriente. They will visit the Royal Palace, travel and tour Toledo, take a tour of Granada and many other places. They will have a full nine days of tours and learning.
The photography field trip is similar to the Spain trip. Any student willing to attend is allowed to go. The trip is the farthest away from school, a whopping 14 hour flight to Greece. They arrive June 1 and depart June 14. Three-star hotel accommodations will provide the students with a comfortable place to recuperate after a long day of touring Greece. Athens, the islands of Santorini, Paros and Crete are on the itinerary. Attendees will experience classical ruins, Greek culture, windsurfing, a Greek cooking class and hiking.
