In the first game of the season, the Senators scored in less than one minute on the first drive to start a rout of the Hazel Green Trojans, defeating them 31-0.

This was the second consecutive year that the Senators dominated the Trojans in Week Zero play. Last year the Senators won 77-9.

Quarterback Josh Ward was 16 of 22 in passing, throwing three touchdowns in the offensive showcase. Junior Jonathan Rozier caught a 10-yard pass from Ward to score the first touchdown and senior Amaree Jabarr scored the other two touchdowns. Senior Jayden Thomas rushed for a touchdown for the fourth touchdown of the game. Senior Christian Burruss kicked all a field goal to make the offensive score 31.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the game was called at halftime. The Alabama High School Athletic Association ruled that the game stood at 31-0 and a Senator victory.

The team was informed of the abrupt end during halftime. They were upset about not being able to finish the first game of the season.

The Senators will face Huffman on Friday, Sept. 1 at Huffman.
