The first round of the AHSAA State Soccer Tournament began this past Tuesday, April 28. After beating Gadsden City,4-1, the girls varsity soccer team will advance to the tournament’s second round this Friday against Bob Jones at 7p.m.

The team was led by senior Brooke McKee with two goals, senior Beryl Kessio with one goal and junior McKenna Matzek added one goal.

The team faced Bob Jones three times this season where they were 1-3 with the last game being lost to the Patriots in overtime.

“It’s almost a familiar game because we know each other very well,” sophomore Libby Reid said. “It should be a good game.”

If the Senators win the match against Bob Jones, it will mark the school’s biggest advance in the state playoffs and it will also secure them a spot in the Final Four.
