School has its first strike

The first bowling team in history starts off fresh by winning their first bowling match at Scottsboro. The team played well in their first match. They played a double match against Skyline and Scottsboro High and were able to win all of the matches. As for the single matches junior Beth Fowler came out on top against both teams and the boys team succeeded as well.

Besides bowling being a new sport at Sparkman some of the players and the coach are new to the sport. Bowling is underappreciated sport and it is hard to attract athletes to the sport. Bowling is a competitive sport in its own way most people just play it to have fun.
“I have never coached bowling I enjoy bowling and have been a participant in the sport for quite some time, “Keith said.
The team practice on Mondays and Wednesday’s at pin palace. Even though the team doesn’t practice daily they have still been doing very well in their matches.
“The team practices to learn better fundamentals and improve their basic skills, “Keith said.
The team season will stretch through January and will compete at a high level. The teams play’s Scottsboro, Skyline, Bob Jones, James Clemens and East Limestone High. They will play previous opponents more than once.
“Our goals for the first season are to improve upon each player’s basic skills. This will lead to a better understanding of fundamentals and eventually lead to more wins,”said Keith.
