Spirit Week is a tradition held at schools where students show unity and boost morale by dressing up and participating in themed activities. Usually held throughout the week with different features every day, these themes allow students to express themselves in a fun and unique way. These themes are chosen by the Student Government Association and they choose these themes because they are creative and build a sense of community through participation.
Monday, Bicker vs Surfers is based on an old Disney movie called teen beach movie. It’s a movie that had bickers and surfers in it where they all had disagreements but at the end all came together. Junior Riley Hawkins chose to be a surfer because she said that she thinks being a surfer fits her personality more instead of being a bicker.
Character Day is where you dress up as a character you like or think you resemble. Sophomore Dahlia Sturdivant dressed up as Thing One from Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat.
Generation day is when you dress up as the age you were given based on what grade you’re in;
Freshmen were dressed up as newborns, sophomores were toddlers, juniors were dressed up like adults and seniors were dressed up as elderly people. Sophomore Zoe Hall wore a one-piece with stickers all over her face. Her having stickers on her face lined up with generation day because little kids always get into stuff and she just thought that wearing stickers would piece her outfit more together. She said that she used Pinterest to find her outfit because she didn’t really know what to do with her outfit.
Anything but a Backpack Day, where you use anything but a backpack; Junior Riley Hawkins bought a pink Hello Kitty suitcase to carry all her stuff in.
On Friday, there is a blackout for the homecoming football game. Students wore all black to go out and support our team for the game that night.
The theme that they chose for the homecoming dance was fairytale. The reason there was a dance because it is a tradition for some schools around the world. The dance theme was fairytale because they wanted it to remind people of it being magical and fun. The dance was on September 27,2025.
Senior SGA Historian Cory Muhammad said that the theme for the homecoming dance was chosen because he thought people would be happy about the decisions that were made. “Cory Muhammad that they thought some people would relate to the theme of homecoming because it would remind them of their childhood and when they were younger.”
