This December SGA is getting into the Christmas spirit by sponsoring the annual Christmas tree decorating competition. The competition is offered to all the clubs and organizations here at Sparkman. Ashley Johnston, SGA sponsor, is over the competition this year and also chose judges.
“The rules are that a tree and decorations must be provided by the participants, but they can decorate the tree in any theme they would like,” Johnston said.

Entered for the chance to win were the Scream Team’s and Spanish Club’s trees along with the Chemistry Club’s “Chemistree” and teachers along the history hall’s “Histree”. They all decorated the trees to their liking and entitled them to go along with the themes they chose. History teacher, Ben Stevenson was confident that the “Histree” was going to take the lead.

“The whole history hall took part in decorating the tree and we all had a part in deciding the theme. Our tree looks great and the group is hoping that we take home the prize,” Stevenson said.

The judges were recruited to choose the winning tree , and the prize is to receive a breakfast in January provided by SGA. The winner was chosen this week and it was the Chemistry Clubs “Chemistree”.

“I chose two judges that were not participating in decorating the tree so that it would be fair. The choice was unanimous and the “Chemistree” took the winning,” Johnston said.
