Sparkman High School’s Theatre Department will present the Broadway musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brother” next spring.

The musical production illustrates the story of a young boy by the name of Adam who goes into town looking for a wife to care from him and his six brothers. Immediately into his journey Adam meets the young Milly who quickly marries Adam. Throughout the play the duo and the brothers embark on fun adventures.

The play was turned into a motion picture in 1954 and won the Academy Award for score.

“I chose this as our musical because it will challenge our kids. It’s dance heavy and I could cast a lot of people in good roles,” drama teacher Lezlie Lanza. “It’s more of an ensemble.”

Junior Spencer Rosenthal has been cast as the lead, Adam and senior Marissa Swanner will play Milly.

The drama department will begin work on the play immediately. Ticket prices will be announced closer to the performance date.
