At the start of the school year, students can expect new technology in their media centers or their classrooms for their own use. The robotics team is one of the advantageous programs to gain new technology for their department.

The machine shop and the tool shop are the two new equipment that they will be using this year. The functions that the equipment will utilize will be beneficial during their competition season.

“We have two new shops which is the machine shop and the tool shop. The machine shop has the 3D printer and the mini carbon machine so it is like computerized machines,”senior Grayson Littrell said.

The machine shop was purchased last April, however they are now starting to gradually get the machine up and running with the help of the team and professionals. It will take a couple of more weeks but soon it will start to function.

“It took some time because of all the software, putting it together and it is a big machine,” senior Sam Rector said. “You have to bring it in with a pilot jack put it down then you have to hook all the wires up with it. Then get a one tenth bowl outlet in it to actually run it.”

The use of their machine shop will make their competition season easier for them. In the past, companies will take at least a week for them to get their part back. Now with the machine shop this is not the case.

“The machines are going to to be beneficial because we need products developed and now we have the right machines to do it. This will be instead of having to send it off to different companies to do it for us,” Rector said.

The machine shop will be used to make parts such as hub adaptors, sprocket hubs and other little things they will need. When the shop is fully running, it will create a rupture of excitement within the team.

“I am very excited to get [ the machine shop] up and running. It is going to be pretty amazing to see,” Rector said.
