Crimson Crier: What is your full name?
Angela Holland: Angela Darnell Holland
CC: How many children do you have?
AH: One – Anna – Registered Dietitian
CC: What are some things that you do when you are not at school?
AH: I play with my granddaughter, read, cook, bodypump and zumba classes, watch football, go to Titans games, watch the eagles and teach the sixth grade Sunday school classes.
CC: What is one thing you miss most about working in a hospital?
AH: I miss the instant gratification of seeing a patient get better after taking care of them, especially my cancer patients.
CC: Do you have any pets? If so, What kind and what are their names?
AH: Yes, I have three cats who are all rescued; Mickey, Possum and Darryl (for the Walking Dead character).
CC: What is your favorite food? Why?
AH: Little Rosie’s Chicken Fajita Salad with white queso and chips. It is the experience that goes along with the food; Date nights with Mr. Holland.
CC: What is your least favorite food? Why?
AH: Pineapple upside down cake because I had it in the fifth grade, got a stomach virus and threw it up. I have not eaten it since.
CC: How many grandchildren do you have? What is his, her or their names?
AH: One – Evie. She is three and a half years old.
CC: What is your favorite color? Why?
AH: Blue because of the Tennessee Titans.
CC: Who lives with you?
AH: Mr. Holland and the three cats.
CC: What was your first job? What were your experiences with it?
AH: My first job was working at the Huntsville Public Library checking out by i know records and VCR tapes. I loved it because I then realized I loved working with people.
CC: Explain the craziest or scariest experience you have had.
AH: The scariest experience was when I was six years old, flying for the first time, going to Miami. We flew into a tropical storm and I thought we were going to crash.
CC: What is the best thing about you life right now?
AH: The best thing about my life right now is having my granddaughter and having the ability to visit and she her on a regular basis since they live in Huntsville.
CC: What is one thing that drives you crazy? Why?
AH: One thing that drives me crazy is the overuse of
social media by society. These have made us disconnect from everyone and become self-absorbed.
CC: What is one thing not everyone knows about you?
AH: My father used to work as an Elvis impersonator in Huntsville and I was kicked in the head by a horse when I was around six years old.
CC: What is the best decision you have ever made?
AH: The best decision I made was to accept Christ as my personal savior and be baptized when I was a teenager.
CC: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?
AH: I honestly cannot think of just one. My life has had a lot of funny things that have happened.
CC: What do you do when you are bored?
AH: I love to watch Food Network cooking shows, especially The Pioneer Woman.
CC: What is your best memory with a student?
AH: My best memory is with a student who was a behavior problem. I talked to him, he made changes and now owns his own orthotic/prosthetic company. He also allows our interns to job shadow. About two Christmases ago, he showed up at my house with his wife and two sons. He stated that he wanted his family to meet the teacher who changed his life.
CC: What is the worst thing that has ever happened in your classroom?
AH: I had two students faint and fall out on the floor wishing two minutes of each other. We were watching a video of a lumbar puncture. I had to take care of them, put them in shock position and then give them each peanut butter crackers because neither had eaten breakfast.
