The bowling team is adapting to new changes this season. The biggest change of all is the welcoming of a new coach.

Choir director David Giambrone will take over this year. In the past,  he has coached sports such as football and golf, however, this is his first year coaching at the school.

“I have always wanted to try and help out anyway I could,” Giambrone said. “I enjoy bowling so I am hoping to learn something from this too.”

Giambrone’s  goals for the year are to continue to practice hard and to be successful, while also having a good time. Giambrone knows that the players will not have any problem achieving every goal set this year.

Junior Emerald-Skyy Everheart is entering her third year on the bowling team. She first joined the bowling team because some of her friends were on it and she wanted something to do.

“I have been on the bowling team since it first started,” Everheart said. “I had the old coach as teacher so I decided to try it and she really helped me out.”

Everheart feels having Giambrone as the coach this year will be a great opportunity for the team to expand and become acceptable to new things.

“[Giambrone] being the coach is exciting,” Everheart said. “I feel like he is going to bring his energy and coaching skills to help out as much as he can.”

So far, the team has taken a liking to Giambrone and have seen what he is all about. Giambrone has also been receiving help from a parent who played on a league bowling team. She has been coaching him while he coaches the team.

“I just want to be able to do something that makes me feel like I am another part of what is happening here at Sparkman,” Giambrone said. “I want to be able to give the kids another opportunity to be involved in something.”
