Prom King And Queen 2018

May 10, 2018

Seniors Grant Whitt and Ariel Cunningham have dated for two years and five months. This year they were crowned Prom King and Queen.

A few weeks before Prom, Cunningham decided along with some of her friends that she was going to beat her boyfriend to the “asking”. She along with her best friend Nikki Ahlf,  made a plan to set up a flash mob during the “Make A Wish” dodgeball tournament on April 27. With the permission of Mr. Shaw, Mrs. Fitch and Mrs. Johnston, Cunningham had the go ahead with her flash mob “promposal.” Whitt did not have a clue.

“I was super surprised when it happened. I didn’t think it was for him until she came out with the poster,” Whitt said.

Whitt was actually planning on asking Cunningham that upcoming weekend but she undoubtedly beat him to it. Cunningham didn’t do the flash mob for the votes though, she did it just for Whitt.

” We didn’t even consider that our promposal would influence us winning. We were blessed to  even be voted onto the court in the first place and didn’t expect to win,” Whitt said.

Cunningham said that last year when she lost, she still had a blast at the prom. Whitt was announced first and said he was hoping Cunningham would be announced next.  When she was announced, Whitt went crazy.

“I felt humbled to know that many people cared enough about us to vote,” Cunningham said. “Our families were super excited.”

The couple celebrated by having an ice cream party.

“We were grateful for that entire night. If I could relive it again, I would. And so would Whitt,” Cunningham said.
