With Musical Approaching, Meet the Cast

With the school musical, “West Side Story,” opening at the end of February, many of the students participating are nervous, excited or a mixture of both. The following students, the main cast you will see onstage, shared their favorite parts of performing and why they think people should watch them perform. 

David Dyer, Senior 

Character: Tony

Most excited about for this show: My dad coming.

Why should people come see WSS: the amount of effort we are putting in will make it an awesome show.

Sarah Schomburg, Senior

Character: Maria

Most excited about: Sparkman has NEVER done a show like this. The classical music, the amount of people in the show and how kind and supportive everyone is.

Why should people come see WSS: Not only is West Side Story an amazing show but the way Sparkman will perform it will be breathtaking, and we(the theatre kids) love going to the games and we are probably the main ones cheering, so we’d love for the people we support to return the offer.

Brady Hauglie, Junior

Character: Riff (Rifftopher Columbus)

Most excited about: the dancing.

Why should people come see WSS: because it’s gonna be amazing, everyone in the senior class is amazing, also D’Asia, D’Asia is a really good reason, and maybe me if you want, I love you. There you go. Period. 

Damen Fletcher, Senior

Character: Bernardo

Most excited about: the dancing, we have a lot of fun dancing numbers, and a lot of energy with the cast.

Why should people come see WSS: It’s gonna be the best one Sparkman has ever done so far.

D’Asia Betts, Senior

Character: Anita

Most excited about: “America”, the best dance and song in the musical in my opinion.

Why should people come see WSS: we have worked so hard, this cast is like a family and it is gonna be an amazing show.

Caleb Beard, Senior 

Character: Action

Most excited about: I get to be mad all the time and that’s pretty fun.

Why should people come see WSS: So they can see me pelvic thrust.

Dylan Betts, Senior

Character: Chino

Most excited about: Being onstage with all my homies and my ‘20 classmates. Period. 

Why should people come see WSS: Because it’s gonna be pop off. We gonna turn it up and turn it out. period.

Thomas Borders, Senior

Character: Arab

Most excited about: Performing, this is my first show I will ever be in the cast, I am converting from tech and I am very excited about it.

Why should people come see WSS: It is the most amazing show I have seen Sparkman do since I have been here, and it’s gonna be great.

Blake Westmoreland, Junior

Character: Baby John

Most excited about: All of the group numbers.

Why should people come see WSS: because it is the best show we have had so far.

Toni Veach, Senior

Character: Anybodys

Most excited about: Tech week, performing, having fun with the cast, and just experiencing the show.

Why should people come see WSS: It’s gonna be awesome, we have really talented actors, the singing is good the dancing is good, and it’s really good entertainment for a good price.

Daylen Reynolds, Senior

Character: Diesel

Most excited about: The dance numbers.

Why should people come see WSS: we worked really hard on it and it’s a great show with great music and great numbers.

Michael Nelson, Junior

Character: Snowboy

Most excited about: Being a black dude named Snowboy.

Why should people come see WSS: it’s gonna be a show for the makings. West Side Story is already a popular musical and seeing Sparkman do it is gonna be great because we have so many talented people here.

 Timmy (Tyrone) Bradshaw, Junior

Most excited about: I enjoy hanging with a bunch of the theatre kids, they’re very entertaining.

Why should people come see WSS: it’s fun and it has a good message. 

JJ Lee, Sophomore

Most excited about: getting to perform in front of people, and being part of something special.

Why should people come see WSS: It’s gonna be great.

Jakob Nebraski, Sophomore

Character: Big Deal

Most excited about: Being in “Officer Krupke” .

Why should people come see WSS: it’s fun, it’s great, it’s funny, you’ll get a lot of laughs out of it.

Kaden Burgess, Sophomore

Character: Glad Hand

Most excited about: seeing how many people we can entertain.

Why should people come see WSS: because it’s gonna be really good.

Ryan Jacobs, Senior

Character: Rosalia

Most excited about for this show: it will be Sparkman’s last show at the playhouse.

Why should people come see WSS: because we always put on a fun and enjoyable show for everyone!

Jade Taylor, Senior

Character: Velma

Most excited about: Everyone to come see. Buy your tickets for West Side Story!!!

Why should people come see WSS: Because we’re awesome and we’re great and it’s gonna be the best Sparkman show in Sparkman History.

Denisse Rodriguez, Senior

Most excited about: Seeing people’s reaction to “America”.

Why should people come see WSS: They get a little culture to the school.

Jeremiah Conley, Senior

Most excited about: Being out of school for a week.

Why should people come see WSS: Because I am in it.
