Golf Takes Second in Metro

The boys golf team starts the season out strong taking second place in the annual Metro Tournament that was hosted at Sparkman’s home course, Huntsville Country Club, on March 20. The squad fell just short of beating Huntsville High School, but beat area competitors Hazel Green, James Clemens, Grissom and Buckhorn. The tournament featured eight teams in all.

The team was a model of consistency, showing four solid scores in the mid to low 80s, but failed to have a breakout performance from any of their members – freshman Jaxen Pastores, 80, junior Matthew Walker, 81, sophomore Sungjoon Kim, 81, and eighth grader Kai Pastores, 85. The team shot 327 in total, seven shots more than first place finishers Huntsville High School, and six shots less than third place finishers James Clemens.

The team looks to continue their good play in their matches against area competitors Bob Jones, James Clemens, and Huntsville in the next 10 days.
