Senior Brandon Miller signed with Edwards Water College on April 16 to play basketball. He was signed on the weekend they flew him out to the campus for a visit.

“They flew me out to Jacksonville, they paid for everything and then I played with the team. I did well and they said they really wanted me and for me to come in the fall,” Miller said.

Miller is happy about the opportunity that he has been given. He looks forward to the college life that awaits him in the fall.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new people and living on my own,” Miller said. “I plan to keep my grades up and have a great season as a freshman.”

Edwards Waters College was not his first choice but it was one of the only schools to give him an offer to play college basketball.

“It was not my first choice because it was far. I always wanted to leave Alabama but I didn’t want to go too far away from my friends and family,” Miller said.

His family, friends and coaches have helped him throughout his life and his high school journey. He will miss them when he goes away to Edwards Waters College in the fall.

“I’ll miss my family because they have always been there for me. I’ve been with them for 18 years and now it’s going to be sad that I have to leave them. I will miss some of my friends because I grew up with a couple of them,” Miller said. “They are like family to me and it’s going to be weird not seeing them every day. I will miss my coaches because I wouldn’t be the player I am today. They are the reason why I’m going to college because they taught me how to play basketball.”

Basketball has always been a passion for Miller. During his early years of life, Miller had a fondness for the game of basketball.

“Ball is life. I grew up playing basketball ever since I was two or three years old,” Miller said. “I’ve always been in love with the game.”
