The swim team ended the regular season earning second place in the Madison County Championship.

The team was narrowly beaten out of the top spot by Buckhorn High School for the second year in a row.

“I was absolutely proud of the team. I wanted to defeat Buckhorn so we could return the trophy to us,” swim coach Monica Davis said.

Davis was happy with the public turnout and thought the tournament organizers did a great job.

Sophomore Collier DeVaney was named the Swimmer of 2015 for the second year in a row. He was qualified for sectionals in the 50 free, 500 free and the 100 backstroke.

“It’s always nice being recognized for my swimming,” DeVaney said.

Junior Kayla Hammer also qualified for sectionals in the 50 free, 100 free and the 200 IM.

“Our next stop before these guys compete in regionals will be with the entire team at the North Alabama Championship,” Davis said. “Then we hope to head to Auburn for the state meet.”
