On Friday May 8, the annual SGA Powderpuff football games ended with the slam of a football to the ground, a cheering victory circle of blue and a chant of “2015.”

Throughout the span of three weeks, the classes prepared for an almost expected loss against the seniors, since it is tradition for the senior class to win. The first battle, against the sophomores and juniors, commences to see who earns their way into a seat next to the enemy — the seniors, of course.

“I enjoyed it, it was tiring and fun. I was sad that we did not win, but I was happy when it was over,” junior Senise Cash said.

After a shocking triumph over the juniors, the next step is to defeat the seniors. This has been found to be a daunting, intimidating task.

“All of our practices had been a bit of a wreck. We learned about five offensive plays but we all knew going into the game we wouldn’t be very good when it came to defending,” sophomore Libby Reid said.

The following content may be disturbing to underclassmen: the seniors conquered the sophomore class. As soon as the sophomores tried and failed four times to score, the seniors would score a touchdown on their first try. This loss was sad, but predictable. In the end, the seniors carried on their tradition.

“I am very thankful that we worked as a team. My coaches and teammates were very supportive and understanding. That is why we came out of the game with a win,” senior Rayven Lane said.
