The baseball team has ridden late season success deep into the playoffs, advancing to the state championship series.

With an impressive regular season, the baseball team has expected to be in a position to win the state championship. They have dominated the playoff competition, only losing three games. They have relied on elite pitching and hitting to succeed in the playoffs, scoring 73 runs and holding opponents to just 24 runs during this stretch.

“The team is clicking on all cylinders right now. We continue to work hard every day to prepare for this last playoff series. We hope that we can keep performing at a high enough level to take home the championship,” junior Brian Robinson said.

The team is facing a familiar opponent in the championship. In only the second game of the season, the team narrowly defeated Spain Park 6-5 in one of the closest games they have played all year. They now face the same opponents in the championship series. The team remains confident in their ability.

“I think we have a real chance to win the championship series. I have faith in my teammates and in all of the work that we have put in throughout the season. Even though we barely beat Spain Park early on, we have progressed as a team throughout the season,” senior Tanner Burns said.

The state championship series will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday in Montgomery.
