The Varsity Girls Basketball team came out playing on all cylinders as they beat Hazel Green 44-43 Tuesday night.
Sparkman who has played very well lately, looked to improve their record.
The first quarter was a close quarter, Sparkman was able to jump ahead, but Hazel Green stayed in the game by utilizing their deep ball.
Hazel Green, who shot the lights out, was able to jump out on Sparkman who was struggling to contain the Trojans guards in the second quarter.
Sparkman came back and played great defense keeping Hazel Green from scoring. Sparkman was able to dominate the post as well as outside shooting.
Sparkman was able to hold on after Hazel Green, with the help from their bench, made a comeback at the end.
The Varsity Boys Basketball team beat Hazel Green 56-42 Tuesday night ending a two game losing streak.
The game was very intense as Sparkman tried to redeem themselves after they took heartbreak losses to Huntsville and Gasden City.
The game opened up different from the last two with both teams really playing well. It was Sparkman who looked like they were going to win, making a lot of their shots, but Hazel Green kept playing hard. The game was close at the end of the first, 13-8.
The second quarter was the same as the first but Sparkman kept shooting well and playing great defense making Hazel Green commit lots of turnovers. The score was 29-17 at the half.
Coming into the third quarter Sparkman used the momentum from the second quarter to keep the lead over the Trojans and kept playing great defense. Hazel Green kept committing useless fouls helping the Senators
The fourth quarter was a little intense. With the lead Sparkman made some costly mistakes, and Hazel Green took advantage of that and made a little comeback, but the Senators were able to shut them down. Sparkman won 56-42, adding another win to the win column.
