On the second weekend of every June, hundreds of thousands of people gather in the small town of Manchester, Tennessee for good fellowship and even better music. The 2015 Bonnaroo lineup was announced on Jan. 13 with over 100 acts on deck.
In years past, Bonnaroo has hosted headliners with immense musical abilities that have made the festival worthwhile. Those in charge of inviting the acts have quite a bit to live up to if they want to keep the popularity of Bonnaroo alive and thriving.
This year’s lineup is filled with headliners such as Billy Joel, DeadMau5, Kendrick Lamar, Florence and the Machine, Childish Gambino, Hozier and Alabama Shakes. All of these artists have strong and solid sounds along with supportive fans that will be in the crowds singing every song.
Some of those who have been to Bonnaroo in the past complain that this year’s lineup is not as strong as it has been. Previous years of the festival have included artists Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Jack Johnson, Passion Pit, The XX, Phoenix, The Head and the Heart, Lil Wayne, The Black Keys, Eminem, Widespread Panic, Stevie Wonder, Weezer, The Avett Brothers and Zac Brown Band. Having these performers as main headliners set a standard for what kinds of singers and songwriters the festival would include.
With the recent sellout of tickets for general admission, the lineup seems to be the least of this year’s worries for the “Bonnaroovians.”
