Meeting Jenna: another adoptee

May 4, 2016

I was born in Kurgan, Russia and at birth was placed in an orphanage. I was put up for adoption and was adopted at the age of one by Kathie Tomaino. Kathie is the best mother I could ask for and I am truly blessed that she found me.

A few weeks ago, I attended a reunion in Veteran’s Park in Birmingham for kids who were internationally adopted. When I got to the park I met a girl named Jenna Bond, we were babies together in the same orphanage. Jenna and I gave each other a huge hug and from that moment we became friends. We ran all over Veteran’s Park together throwing water and leaves at each other. We started talking about the hobbies we share such as: drawing, painting, swimming and being outside. I felt like I had met my twin because Jenna is just like me, she’s funny, outgoing, loud, crazy and adventurous. I met Pete and Michelle, who adopted Jenna and they were super kind. After the reunion Jenna, her parents, my mom and I all went out to eat ice cream. At the ice cream parlor there was a guy filming people for a commercial. Our parents signed a waiver saying that we could be filmed and it was awesome being in a commercial together. Our parents are going to try to get us together again sometime this summer. The plan is to go to Six Flags because Jenna hasn’t been there and really wants to go and so do I; plus we also love roller coasters.

Jenna is super cool and I am so glad I got to meet her.
