Fantasy movies hit the box office this fall

Fantasy movies are the world’s favorite way to escape reality. Several films are due to be released this fall including: “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them,” “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” and a few more later this year.

From J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them” is the highly anticipated Harry Potter spin-off. This story follows Newt Scamander, a young Magizoologist, who studies mysterious creatures. After returning home from his research to write his book, “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them,” Newt makes a brief stop in New York. During his stop the magical creatures in his magically expanded briefcase are released, threatening the relationship – which is already in a bad place – between the wizarding world and the real world, sending the American wizarding authorities after Newt.

Another film that will drive the box office this fall is based off of the novel by Ransom Riggs, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.” When 16 year old Jake Portman’s grandfather mysteriously dies, he travels to find an orphanage on an island that is home to many extraordinary children run by Miss Peregrine. At this home he discovers that not only is he one of them, but he was chosen to protect the peculiar children from the evil trying to kill them.

“I can’t wait to see what [the movie] comes up with every ability and every kid,” sophomore Brittney Grisham said.

“My expectations are very high for this movie,” sophomore Anna DuVall said “I like the fact that anything is possible and it test[s] the limits.”
