Music festivals have been gaining popularity as the millennial generation raises to age standards. Teenagers are flocking to the new fad with the intention of meeting new people and experiencing legendary bands. As the excitement grows with each approaching day, festival goers forget the essentials to having the utmost successful trip.

Springing into action on June 9-12, Bonnaroo, a music festival in Manchester, Tennessee, can be an experience incomparable to none or a weekend full of horrific memories. It is all about the tools you pack in order to have the time of your life.

With the smoldering Tennessee sun above Bonnaroo you are bound to become dehydrated if you do not drink, drink, drink. Water will be your best friend for the weekend so make sure you keep your water bottle close. Water keeps your body functioning and without that you can not live the festival to the fullest. According to the Bonnaroo website “An easy way to tell if you are properly hydrated: Your pee will be clear and odorless. If it is stinky and yellow urine trouble.”

Temperatures in Tennessee can reach higher than 100 degrees, so with lots of water bring lots of sunscreen. The worst way to surrender your happiness on the farm, is to a brutal sunburn. Make sure to pack a hat and breathable clothing to cover up from the scorching sun but still experience it all.

Bonnaroo is planned months ahead of it’s time. The weather is a matter of whether or not Mother Nature wants to be kind to festival goers. Make sure to look up the weather for the weekend and be prepared for anything. A tent with a tarp or canopy will save the day, if rain sets in. Make sure to bring at least three pairs of extra clothes in case you get muddy. Extra outdoor shoes are a must. Bring at least two pairs, in case they break.

While you may be radiating positivity, others may be radiating robbery. Having your things stolen at any music festival is a common thing. Make sure to lock your valuables up or bring them with you in your essential backpack. Remember a tent fly is not considered a lock. Bonnaroo also provides storage lockers, which are available for renting.

Open fires are not permitted at any music festival and food vendors sky rocket their prices. To solve this problem bring along a small grill and food from home. This will save tons of money and time. Remember to bring food that will not spoil over the weekend.

At the end of the weekend, when packing up your things, remember to pick up after yourself. After experiencing a life changing weekend, the least you could do for Bonnaroo and the environment is to pick up the litter and give back.

Packing the right tools for any music festival is the real key to having a successful and happy experience on the farm. Make sure to have the essentials for surviving a music festival or surrender your experience to the festival gods.
